Seven things

I was tagged by the lovely Samantha and since I haven't blogged in a hot minute, I thought I'd just go for it. So here they are, seven things about myself.

Un
On the 11th I will have made it a full year in LA. A commitment from me regarding location is next to impossible. Not only have I made it a year, but I'm not even clawing at my door every day begging to get out! I have moments where I crave something different, I still want to try out Denver, Portland and San Francisco, and even today I thought about how a change might be nice. I'm happy here and I have wonderful things. The difference between this time and last time is that I now want to go towards something better instead of just running away from what sucks. And it doesn't suck this time anyway. Probs because this time I'm not in love with someone that doesn't want to/can't return the feelings, among other things! Funny how that works :)

Deux
I keep trying to like Teriyaki sauce, but the more I have it the less I like it.

Trois
I feel no shame in walking around after a shower at night with the lights on and the balcony blinds open. I just don't care. Sorry if that offends you. I'm gonna bet that it doesn't offend any of my neighbors, at least not the one that always stands in the long driveway...

Quatre
I've taken on a couple pro-bono projects just because I know they'll be good for my portfolio, and other projects that come in are likely to get a discount just because I'm feeling generous lately and trying to bulk up my portfolio.

Cinq
Nothing makes me happier than hanging out on the floor of my living room, watching Mike and Jemal play Super Nintendo. Simple pleasures!

Six
I desperately wish I could be better at handling my own money. I'm trying! Sometimes I put hundreds aside and pay off WAY more of my student loan than I have to, and sometimes I find myself with 85 cents in the bank and 5 days to go until I get paid. So much of my money goes to eating out! I don't like cooking but I live for trying new food...so that is an expensive hobby to have.

Sept
A few weeks ago I bought a homeless man dinner, and last night I had a dream that he came chasing after me trying to use my shirt as a blanket. I woke up completely paranoid and had to sleep with a dim light on for the rest of the night hahaha

EDIT- I'm adding a "Huit" to my list because I'm really angry. I don't want to explain why I'm angry, it would take too damn long. So here it is, #8: I left my hometown because nothing makes me more motivated to get out than the thought of being one of those people, completely encased in an ignorant bubble of mediocrity and terrified to try ANYTHING new.

I will never be content eating McDonalds and chicken wings 4 days a week and hanging out at WalMart and talking with my friends about whos baby is cuter and how much I want one of my own and blah blahhh blah. I ADORE my hometown, I love the beauty that can be found in rural NY, I love that I grew up there, I love that I wouldn't be here in this comfy bed in this huge apartment in this crazy city if things hadn't played out exactly the way they did in that place. But the mindset and the idiocy that resides there? It. All. Makes. Me. Gag. Actually no, that's unfair for me to say. To love that lifestyle and live it wholeheartedly is one thing. But to say you're "over it" and act like you have some huge dream.....yet never make any effort to change anything in your life? That's what makes me gag. There's a world of difference between loving a small-town lifestyle and being too scared to ever leave.
